Hello Everyone,
This week in class we are talking about location based narratives. A location based narrative is a narrative that uses a certain location to help tell a story and engage the viewers. So our assignment is to create a location based narrative. To help come up with an idea for this assignment, I turned to the weekly journal post which I chose sit/stand/document the same spot each day for a week. The spot I chose was the main lobby of the Living Learning Center (LLC). I documented this spot each day when heading to class or to lunch in the LLC café around the same time. I will break it down by a list below.
Monday: I was heading to class and saw 3 people. Two were heading to the resident side of the LLC and one was going to the café.
Tuesday: I was heading to lunch in the LLC. I didn't see anybody in the lobby when passing through.
Wednesday: I was heading to class and saw 3 people standing over the news papers and 2 people were walking into the building.
Thursday: I was heading to lunch and saw 2 people walking into the building and 4 people walking into the café ahead of me.
Friday: I was walking to class and saw 3 people in the lobby talking and more furniture was place in the lobby when the past days had none if any.
I noticed a few interesting points throughout this week that lead to my idea for my location based narrative. The first this is that the people I saw were rarely the same people. I would of thought that on Wednesday and Friday, the people I saw were the same people I saw on Monday due to those days being in a rotation of classes. The same idea carries to Tuesday and Thursday. Also that the furniture in the lobby often changes many times a week. I can assume since the main building of the LLC often holds events like weddings and banquets, that the needs of the space often changes. Now these two ideas somehow got me to think of my idea for my narrative.
My narrative is going to be a "Where am I" game where the follower or viewer can interact with a picture and guess where I am. I am thinking about including a riddle into it but I am not sure yet. I am still also deciding if I would like to have this on Twitter or Instagram but if you would like to play along please follow my Twitter @mitcherz35 to play along and for updates!
